nourished minds: counseling + wellness newsletter
from Karen Chinca, LICSW, CEDS-S
Hi there! Happy February to you. I'm delighted to bring you a few news updates and virtual groups happening at Nourished Minds: Counseling + Wellness in the next few months!
First, we have a new therapist on board - join me in welcoming Venetia Breene! Venetia is a fantastic addition to our team. She is accepting new clients and has a passion for working teenagers and young adults. Read more about her below.
Next, I'm very excited to share more about two upcoming virtual groups: 1) Virtual consultation group for clinicians working with clients with eating disorders and OCD, and 2) a support group for women 50+ who are struggling with eating disorders/disordered eating.
The first group is geared for clinicians working with clients with eating disorders and OCD. It begins February 10th, and will meet every other week for 6 Fridays. The group is full, but I invite you to add your name to my waitlist. Contact me to do so: karen@nourishedmindscounseling.com.
The second group - for women with eating disorders/disordered eating ages 50+ is forming this spring. Email me to add your name to the sign-up list; I'll provide more details on this program soon. Feel free to share this with a colleague, friend or client who you think may be interested!
Thank you for your support + as always, be in touch to let me know if you have questions or feedback.
Be well,
Karen

Hello, everyone! As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Staff Psychotherapist at Nourished Minds: Counseling + Wellness, I specialize in working with adolescents and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders and trauma. I particularly enjoy supporting young people as they grapple through the transition to adulthood and the related issues that arise including identity, relationship and conflict navigation.
I believe that my clients are experts in their own experiences, and I feel privileged to be allowed into their lives. I strive to create a warm, safe and non-judgmental space for my clients, in which I bring curiosity and compassion to every session. I empower my clients to identify their own goals and collaborate with them to help develop individualized action-oriented treatment plans to improve the quality of their lives. I identify as an ally to the BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disability communities and value working across the spectrums of gender, race, sexuality, and class.
Prior to joining Nourished Minds, I earned a Master of Social Work from Boston College and have spent the last several years working on inpatient psychiatric units at McLean Hospital, where I worked with clients in acute crises, across a wide range of life stages, diagnoses and identities. I am currently a Fellow at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I am certified in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and integrate elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) into my work. I am also a member of the National Association of Social Workers, where I engage in ongoing professional development.
My clinical experiences have been enriched by living and working in several different countries. Prior to focusing on psychotherapy, I helped develop social impact small businesses in Kigali, Rwanda, and was involved in starting a non-profit organization in Nairobi, Kenya, funding female education.
My virtual consultation group for clinicians working with clients with ED and OCD kicks off this Feb. 10th and runs for 6 weeks. I look forward to working with those of you who have signed up in advance. Per my earlier note, the group is currently full but I am taking names of those who are interested in a future group of this nature. Email me! karen@nourishedmindscounseling.com.
Karen's Mental Health Bite
If you read my newsletters, you're likely aware that one of my favorite things to do is travel. And eat. And eat while traveling! In January, I traveled to southern France. I can never resist taking photos of the beautiful pastries - including one of my favorites, pain au chocolat. Then buying one and savoring it, of course! This month, I invite you to slow down and savor - whether it be slowing down and savoring a favorite food, or time with your children, or time with a good book.
